Crooked Spoon, Carved From Beech
A wonderfully crooked spoon, carved from the naturally curved branch wood of a beech tree. These bent ‘crooks’ allow a spoon with an exaggerated bowl angle to follow the curvy grain, so as not to compromise strength. Additionally, the bowl and slender stem is supported by an increased depth on the neck (known as the keel). These alternating angles and shapes within the spoon make it extremely tactile, not to mention the smooth, burnished finish made possible by beech’s tight grain. This crooked spoon has been sealed with walnut oil and roasted to darken and strengthen.
